do you get these?
i’m not a vera bradley person, myself, but practically every female family member i have loves VB….so, i order off of their site…now my mailbox is full of their catalogs. this one caught my eye! it was larger than the usual catalog they send and (as usual), the paper they use is extremely heavy….soooo, i thought ALTER IT! i tend to hoard my favorite papers, so needless to say, i didn’t use my favorites, but i do have quite a few of those “paper stacks” that you can buy with multiple coordinating sheets…..so, since i didn’t (& still don’t) know exactly what i would use this for, i grabbed 2 of those stacks, my modge podge and went for it! |

here are some tips if you are going to alter a catalog:

so, i am anxious to see how it ends up!
i keep changing my mind what i actually want to use it for…..hopefully i can find a fun use soon! haven’t posted a sunday scrappin’ in a while, so i thought i would today! my ta-da’s:
my to-do’s:
the challenge: i didn’t get a chance to do anything bday related…..hopefully this week. thanks for stopping by! grab some mail and alter it!! |

altered oatmeal container tutorial {sunday scrappin’}
![]() |
happy long weekend!
hope you are enjoying time with family & friends!! here is my sunday scrappin’ ta-da project:
you may have one of these in your pantry already, and don’t even realize it! a quick crafty gift box, made by recycling (re-purposing) your oatmeal container. let’s get started! 1. i gathered the paper that i wanted to use to cover my container….including any papers, embellishments, or ribbon in the same color pallet. |
![]() |
2. i simply cut a sheet of paper to fit around the container. a 12 x 12 sheet almost makes it around. (tip: as you are wrapping it around, using your fingernail as a guide, tuck it under the lip that is at the top.) (i used double-sided tape to adhere the paper.) |
![]() |
3. next, to cover the gap, i used 2 sheets of co-ordinating paper to make a ‘front’ for the gift box. you can do this however you like. (again, i used double-sided tape.) (i also rounded the corners with my corner punch.) |
![]() |
4. once the container was entirely covered, i measured some rick-rack ribbon to go around the top & bottom. i prefer to adhere ribbon by using my smaller sticker-maker. (this is awesome for ribbon!!!!!) |
![]() |
5. i was hoping to use my new stamp set, seen below. “a little caffeine” i ordered it online last week, thinking that it worked with my self-inking stamper…horribly wrong….so i had to mess with it a little and it still didn’t stamp well….bummer. guess i will have to find a base (wood mount) for it. |
![]() |
6. ok, moving on. i simply cut a circle that would fit in the plastic lid. (i’m not into measuring…heck, i didn’t even trace it…i just started cutting a large circle and adjusted as i went.) |
![]() |
7. again, i ran my ribbon thru my sticker-maker and adhered it to the lid.
8. using one of my favorite tools, my marvy punches, i cut different size circles/scalloped circles to make a tag for the top. (i also adhered these with double-sided tape.) |
![]() |
9. of course, i had to use my other current favorite, THICKER STICKERS!!!! love them!!!
10. also for the front, i made a 3 layered “flower” and topped it off with a THICKER… (to make sure that the layers stuck together, i used a strong, clear glue adhesive.) (my 3-D embellishment for sunday scrappin’.) so, here’s the finished look! of course, you can make it as fancy or crazy as you like. Oh! and importantly, i filled mine with my favorite homemade biscotti….made by my SIL….thanks, jan! this chocolate biscotti is to.die.for!!!! amazing! i also included some different flavors of starbucks’ chocolate candy! so. there you have it. an easy scrappy project and you may already have the supplies on hand! my sunday scrappin’ to-do’s:
enjoy your long weekend!!!!! find some time to scrap! |

those adorable feety pajamas
![]() |
i found this picture from 1996.
nick was about 2 1/2 then. i just loved those feety pajamas. he was so snuggly in them. time goes too fast. of course i used some more THICKERS on my layout. for the sunday scrappin challenge: use something 3-D in a layout. i used the leaves and added a red button to resemble a holly berry. my to-do’s:
my ta-da’s:
it was a bit chilly out today, but i managed to finish planting my mini-garden and planted many flowers around the house. i always plant red flowers, to match our front door. but today, everywhere i looked i saw beautiful purple flowers. they were just begging to be planted at our house. so, i went with different shades of deep purple and white. hopefully they bloom & look beautiful! well, i better keep moving….laundry….ironing…treadmill…dishes….all of it is waiting for me! enjoy your sunday! |

scrappy recap {sunday scrappin’}
-
it’s been a scrappy week. my sunday scrappin’:
my to-da’s:
- (above) was a fun layout that i did this week. i’ve had this picture sitting on my scrap-desk, begging to be scrapped. the rainbow paper just screamed “80’s” to me.
- (below), as posted here. i love this layout! it was a fun layout to do. my best friend, always a joy to be around. and of course, Starbucks! all of the fun stickers & actual Starbucks items. the layout just “worked”! i love it when that happens.
- also posted some older layouts this week, that i love looking back on.
my to-do’s:
- as usual, there are always cards to be made.
- projects waiting to be completed.
the challenge:
- i didn’t do the challenge this week, unless you include the circle Starbucks’ emblem. lol. it was my bday last sunday, so i forgot to check!
hope everyone’s weekend is going well.
still needing to clean my scrap-room, write/edit neighborhood newsletter, pay bills and catch up on laundry! yikes! when i would actually just like to snuggle down with my starbucks and sunday paper.
enjoy your day!

ok. so, as mentioned before in a couple different posts,this year, i am “refocusing and renewing” my relationship with Christ this year.
to encourage this process, i am participating in a few different scripture challenges. (of course, it also qualifies for my sunday scrappin) the above layout is my first for the Scripture Challenge at faithsisters.com the words for this week were “faith & kindness”. the verses that i chose: Psalm 145:17 & James 2:26 i did some cloud layering with the owls. love the owls!! pleated some ribbon at the bottom. |
![]() |
i am also participating in the His Holy Name Challenge at faithsisters.com this week’s name was “holy”.
i chose: Revelation 4:8b & Isaiah 6:3b loved using the thicker stickers for holy. loooove those. |
![]() |
another challenge, over at LPMblog for scripture memorization. the verse i chose to memorize was: Psalm 51:10.
i kept this memory verse layout, small, like baseball card size. easy to attach to a ring and keep with me, to refresh my memory when learning each verse. |
![]() |
i didn’t want to use too many embellishments. wanted to keep it more flat, so that it could easily be portable. plus, i want the scripture to be the key point, without embellishments distracting from it.
well, that is how i spent my sunday afternoon. of course now, i am watching Big Ben with my hubby….go Steelers!!! |

my dd {sunday scrappin’}
![]() |
well, here i am. i am soooo enjoying the december daily project. i have mentioned it in a few other posts. if you want to see all my month so far, check out my flickr.
this layout for yesterday, the 13th, is titled “early bird”. it describes the fact that i am NOT an early bird. yesterday, however, i was up / out of the house / starbucks in hand and at the church by 10am to set up for a coffee fellowship time the next day. so, for a saturday, i was QUITE the “early bird”. i LOOOVE the owl and using the thicker stickers!!! |
![]() |
ok. so, for my sunday scrappin’:
|
![]() |
![]() |
for the 14th, my layout describes that within a 7 day period, we have FIVE different Christmas programs to go to! busy busy! but that’s ok…. ’tis the season!
again, i used the thicker stickers and for the journalling, i actually used my typewriter…. quite a vintage find! i got it at a local flea market for only $5, case and everything! |
![]() |
well, that is all!
hope you are enjoying what is left of your weekend! …..in the meadow we can build a snowman…….walkin’ in a winter wonderland…..(looove Christmas music!)….. |

december daily {sunday scrappin’}
here’s my post for sunday scrappin’.
my ta-da’s: advent calendar and the december daily that i’m going to post today my to-do’s: christmas cards, and some encouragement cards, and a few gifts my challenge for the next person, (as suggested on sunday scrappin’): scrap a picture from a past Christmas ok. so, i’m finally finished with my day long project. i wanted to make a december daily, as suggested by ali on her blog. basically, you create a page for the entire month of december. then, each day of december, you take a photo(s), journal it and create a layout using the page you have already created. it should help you save time during the hustle & bustle of the Christmas season. i am only going to post 8 pictures today, showing how i altered a 3-ring binder to use for it: |

autumn greetings {sunday scrappin’}
managed to do some scrappin’ today…infact, some sunday scrappin’.
the challenge: to use up some ribbon my ta-da’s: 2 autumn cards my to-do’s: 5 more giftbags for my etsy store, a few more cards, a few layouts for a scrap-job i’m doing i like the cards. the stamps are from papertreyink. i don’t particularly like how the chalk looks. i am hoping to invest in some copic markers eventually, here’s an example using the markers….although, i’m not much for coloring, so i’m not sure i could do them justice. hope your sunday went well. we are fighting the sniffles and sore throats and my poor hubby, who worked around 85 hours last week on a special project at work….needless-to-say, we are all wiped out, for one reason or another. tomorrow begins a new week! enjoy!!! |
