2010 {stretch}
What will my “word for 2010” be? (one little word–inspired by ali edwards) In 2008, I began my new lifestyle of counting calories, working out, and getting healthy & strong. So, for 2009, I wanted to “refocus & renew”. Not on my physical, but my spiritual. As I began to think about my word for 2010…I finally decided upon “stretch”. I tried to think of a word that sums up how I want to live in 2010. (This goes along with my “40 till 40”, not as lessons learned, but learning.) How does the word stretch apply?
What’s your ‘word’ for 2010? |

ever feel like hiding?
like giving up? like there’s no hope for your situation? remember that God is with you. Psalm 46:1-11 1 God is our refuge and strength,
3 Though its waters roar and foam 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, 5 God is within her, she will not fall; 6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; 7 The LORD Almighty is with us; 8 Come and see the works of the LORD, 9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; 10 “Be still, and know that I am God; 11 The LORD Almighty is with us;

{r & r} sunday scrappin’

ok. so, as mentioned before in a couple different posts,this year, i am “refocusing and renewing” my relationship with Christ this year.
to encourage this process, i am participating in a few different scripture challenges. (of course, it also qualifies for my sunday scrappin) the above layout is my first for the Scripture Challenge at faithsisters.com the words for this week were “faith & kindness”. the verses that i chose: Psalm 145:17 & James 2:26 i did some cloud layering with the owls. love the owls!! pleated some ribbon at the bottom. |

i am also participating in the His Holy Name Challenge at faithsisters.com this week’s name was “holy”.
i chose: Revelation 4:8b & Isaiah 6:3b loved using the thicker stickers for holy. loooove those. |

another challenge, over at LPMblog for scripture memorization. the verse i chose to memorize was: Psalm 51:10.
i kept this memory verse layout, small, like baseball card size. easy to attach to a ring and keep with me, to refresh my memory when learning each verse. |

i didn’t want to use too many embellishments. wanted to keep it more flat, so that it could easily be portable. plus, i want the scripture to be the key point, without embellishments distracting from it.
well, that is how i spent my sunday afternoon. of course now, i am watching Big Ben with my hubby….go Steelers!!! |

i am starting a new devotional, Take A Closer Look For Women and i really enjoy books that are based on praying the scriptures….so i found a new one Praying the Scriptures for Your Teenagers. |
refocus & renew

i’ve been thinking a lot about something that ali edwards mentioned in her blog.
choosing a word for 2009. a word that sums up what you want for yourself this coming year. i thought this would be easy. i thought a word would just jump out at me. but it didn’t. i’ve been thinking about it…looking up words…scriptures etc…. i finally narrowed it down to two. refocus & renew. 2008 was a year that i really focused on getting healthy. losing weight. exercising. making healthy eating choices. but one thing that always got pushed to the bottom of my to-do list, was my quiet time wtih God. in 2009, i would like to refocus my energy and renewing my relationship with Christ. daily making the choice to create time to spend alone with him. of course these words can also be applied to other areas of my life also, but i really want my main focus to be on Him. knowing that, when we put our eyes on Christ, everything else should fall into place.
in order to encourage this change, i have found a few challenges that i am going to do. Scripture Challenge 2009 (these 2 are done through faithsisters.com} LPM Scripture Memory Challenge 2009 (this is livingproofministries, which is beth moore, a fantastic Bible-study leader) think about it. it’s more than just a resolution. what will be your focul point this year?? |
