well, finally.  here is our Thanksgiving menu so far.  year to year, things change, but our favorites  remain the same.

  • Turkey, (obviously)
  • Stuffing (mother-in-law specialty)  (she even gave me the secret recipe!)
  • Sweet Potato Bake
  • Green Beans with Bacon
  • Rolls
  • Ham Roll-ups
  • Mashed Potatoes and Homemade Gravy (mom’s family recipe)
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • Pumpkin Pie (always made by my dad)
  • Chocolate Fudge Brownie Pie (or something like that….it’s a new recipe this year)
 so, here is another recipe that we use every year.  (it’s pretty basic, but ohhh so sweeeet and yummy!)

Sweet Potato Bake

Ingredients:

(filling)

  • 3 cups sweet potatoes-mashed
  • 2 eggs-slightly beaten
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar

(topping)

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (we omit these for allergy reasons)

Directions:

  1. For filling:  Heat together and pour in baking dish.
  2. For topping: Mix together topping ingredients, and pour over filling.
  3. Bake at 350′ for 30-40 minutes.
