|ok, so it wasn’t a needle in a haystack,
but it was a needle in a pile of buttons.
or so i thought.
i usually keep a needle in one specific spot in my scrapbooking supplies and always put it back in the same spot.
that way i know where it is. always.
i had used it a few nights ago and went to use it tonight, and it wasn’t there.
not that i don’t have other needles,
but where was it? on the floor somewhere?
stuck in the carpet?
i thought maybe it somehow ended up in my jar of buttons, so i began digging through my button jar, feeling like i was looking for a needle in a haystack, (but also remembering the story in the Bible about the shepherd and his flock. one little sheep had wandered away and he left his flock and searched for it. just as Christ searches for us when we stray.)
anyways, it wasn’t there.
i whispered a prayer to God, asking Him, if there was a needle somewhere around the house, please show it to me. please let me find it instead of some little foot or paw.
so, i trusted God and started scrapbooking. after about an hour, or so, of scrapping, i turned to reach for something and there it was. laying on the carpet. i don’t know how it got there. or where it came from.
but out loud i said “Praise the Lord”, (not something i normally say out loud. i don’t know why. there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just not me.) anyways.
my son was sitting there in the living room playing video games and i wanted to share with him why i had said that.
God cares about the little things. the needles in the haystack.
when we call on Him, He hears us. simply trust Him to answer your prayers. no matter how small they may seem.
