crop work

went to a scrapbook crop at our church today with my friend, stef.

finished a layout of our trip to columbus this summer.

had been wanting to use the ‘flair’ embellishments and the matching paper!

love the dimension that they add to the layout.

the colors are some of my favorite combos, as well.

used some thicker stickers….love them…..

i was only there for about 3 hours.

managed to do this layout and then spent the rest of my time doing a project.

i decided to make a book that will hold an image of each stamp i own.

that way, when i am doing a project, i can quickly reference my stamps.

also, i won’t buy duplicate themes, because i can easily take it with me.

unfortunately, this project is taking forever to stamp each item.

hope your saturday is going well!  enjoy!!!

wrap’n it up

made this cute gift bag for my friend, Lisa.  it was a lot of fun & easy.   (the owl tag i bought on etsy…too cute!)

i have a few ideas in mind for my etsy shop……need to work on that

enjoying the fall weather…loooven the cool crispiness of the air

just ate a 100 Calorie Snickers Bar….deeelicious

summer has raced by

well.  just a few short hours in bed, and we will be up again and getting ready for school.  bummer.  where have the days gone?  seems like it was just june.  this is a picture from tonight.  on the last day of school break, my hubby always meets us for lunch at the Olive Garden and then takes the afternoon off, so that we can spend it as a family.

tonight, we met our extended family, (grandparents, cousins, aunt & uncle) for supper at our local “pizza joint” and then went go-carting.  we try to squeeze just a little bit more fun into the last day.

i also completed my first scrap-challenge.  it’s not a big deal.  many sites offer a challenge, and then those that choose to participate upload their layout.

my layout was of nick and his new school clothes.  new long hair style.  and the fact that he now buys his jeans in the men’s dept.  where has time gone?  i can still remember when he was just starting kindergarten.  time goes too fast.

the challenge had to include some form of cardboard, a pc. of notebook paper, at least 2 embellishments, 2 photos, the journalling needed to end with a question…..here’s mine:

boat load of pictures

an “old” friend of mine turned 40 today.  her hubby had a surprise party for her, so i thought i would make a scrapbook for her to keep memories from her 40th bday party.  hopefully she had a great day!

had a nice time at her party….got to see a couple of dear friends that i haven’t seen in a while….shannon & sue….had a good time laughing and catching up with them….laughed so much, i may have been a bit obnoxious….

decided to blog pictures of the album.  excuse the lighting….the album was done in a beautiful purple / cream / brown / pink theme.  i included fun facts from the year she was born, 1968….for instance, gas was 34 cents a gallon…yikes!  wish it still was!  even wrapped the album in brown tissue with purple gift bag and made a matching gift tag.  the album took about 4-5 hours….20 pages.

well, that’s all for now.  it’s almost midnight.  wanna complete this post before it’s “tomorrow”.  enjoy!

can’t wait to play!

suddenly awoke to the mailman knocking on my door—good day!  my papertrey ink package arrived!  this month’s new release, (every 15th of the month), came today!  OWLS!!!!!!!  i bought the owls!   i love owls!  these are particularly adorable because you build your own owl!  and lots of cute sayings come with.  once again, PTI continues with their great quality!!!!

i can’t wait to play with my new stamps!!!!!

yesterday

yesterday, we had a really nice day.  we travelled to toledo for a birthday party.  my nephew and son were born only hours apart.  they both are celebrating their 14th birthday this week, so we went to celebrate with family.  the day was beautiful.  perfect weather.  we had a really nice time.  (even squeezed in a trip to starbucks on the way home.)

last night, while my hubby & i relaxed and watched “Vantage Point”, i enjoyed some scrappy time!  (by the way–i loved vantage point.  i knew i would.)

i just LOVE papertrey ink.  i have posted about them many times.  i have never been disappointed.  their products are amazing, the quality is fantastic.  even the care that they take in shipping is great.

these cards were made using last month’s release:  Birds of a Feather

i love using the Marvy Punches.  they add great detail, very easily.  (you can buy these at papertrey ink also.)
this stamp even has a wing that can be stamped separately, to add more detail.
well, that sums up my day yesterday.  i hope you had a great weekend & found time for yourself….maybe you scrapped too!  if so, leave a comment!

new flocking technique {good scrappiness}

ok.  so, i had bought the cute little bottles of ‘flocking’ a week or two ago and had yet to try them.  was at the scrapbook store, and found these new double-sided adhesive stickers to use with the flocking or glitter.
i was a bit nervous, but soon was thrilled with how easy it was!

  • simply adhere the stickers, (i chose letters), to your paper
  • pour on some of the flocking, (i poured on a lot)
  • using your finger, rub in a circular motion, over the stickers
  • shake off excessive flocking material, (you can shake it onto another piece of paper, that way it is easy to dump back into the bottle)
  • and there you go!
the pictures don’t do it justice.   it’s amazing how easy it was and whatta great fuzzy, 3-D effect!!!   give it a try! enjoy your weekend!

rainy days & scrappin

yucky rainy day today, so we stayed home and i found time to scrap a little.  i had bought this paper group and some of the embellishments a few weeks ago.  as soon as i saw it, it reminded me of my grandmother.  i’ve been wanting to scrap a page about her, so i thought i would start with this.  i also had bought this clear acrylic sleeve that you can place a 12 x 12 page in, and add ribbon or whatever to hang it.

the color theme matches my scrap room, so i hung it there.

the picture is of my great-grandmother, my mom, and my grandmother….the year was probably 1951…  my grandmother was a very creative lady.  (i think that we were a lot alike…i’m guessing my creativity came from her).
one thing that she did was decorate blown-out eggshells.  she always had many tiny embellishments to use.  she passed on many years ago, but i used some of her items for this page.

the bow, the doily flower, and the pearl flowers were all from her stash.

i thought that the page needed balance, so i added some buttons.  my great-grandmother always had a huge drawer full of buttons in her sewing machine table….so the buttons make me think of her.  this is a great 3-generation picture and i’m quite happy with how the layout turned out.

guess the rainy day wasn’t so bad after all!

hello sunshine

hello.  took this picture on june 1, while sitting in the sun…sipping my starbucks…reading my book….soaking up some warm rays. it was a beautiful day.  (unlike today…rainy & crappy).

finally had a chance to scrap it today.  (the last day of school!!!! tomorrow begins our summer!!!!! yippee!!!!!)

i love this lined paper with the scalloped edges.   i don’t know about you, but it’s a little pricey, so i try to use only a portion of it per layout…..so, in this case, i used only half.
wanted to try the new pleating method, with ribbon & staples.       my bow was already tied when i remembered to try it….and the ribbon should have been longer.  not thrilled with the look of the big staples, but considering that it was the first time i tried it, i’m pleased with the final look.
loved the bright picture.  the ribbon, (which i’ve had forever), reminded me of a beach towel.    the green paper on the left is covered with summer words.

the polka-dotted cellophane actually came on a cookie bouquet that i received for mother’s day.  just seemed to work well together.

SCHOOL’S OUT FOR THE SUMMER!!!!!!     saw this cup, that someone designed, on the web.  love it!!!!

hope your summer break is starting off superbly!  looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.

enjoy.
