{love The Office}

enjoyed a very relaxing saturday yesterday.  beautiful weather, enjoyed a good book, a visit to the ice cream parlor before they close for the season, and late last night, a little scrapping!!

my hubby & i love The Office.  we watch the dvd’s practically every night.  during the season, we have a standing date night to watch The Office together.

last night, i went into my scraproom, enjoying some tunes on my ipod and suddenly had an idea to scrap!

i grabbed this calendar and put together a page within a few minutes.

nothing elaborate, just a simple page that was a lot of fun to throw together!

girls’ getaway mini albums

whew!  i’ve been working on these 2 mini albums for the last 24 hours.

they are purse-shaped chipboard albums.  i filled them with pictures from our girls’ getaway overnighter.  my mom, sister & i went to columbus a few weekends ago….of course i was snapping pictures….so, i made these gift albums for them.

i had a lot of fun putting these together.  the albums, diecut background papers, coordinating chipboard embellishments & journaling tags were each in the $1 bin at michaels.  i think i even got them for less than a buck per pack.

i love the 50’s pin-up girl flair…too cute.

i layered lots of flowers & ribbon…

used some of my favorite stamps…buttons, ribbon, label-maker…

these are just a few pictures from the albums.

of course, i had to add some starbucks scrappy goodness!

i love football season!

i love the chill in the air…watching “the big game”…

these are my O-H-I-O State Buckeye ATCs for a swap over on sistv.com

they were a lot of fun to make.

i chose paper that is textured like a football, handstitched them to look like a football, OSU stickers, used my label maker, Brutus the Buckeye paper and printed out my swap info for the back.

can’t wait to see what everyone else did!

feel like hiding?

ever feel like hiding?

like giving up?

like there’s no hope for your situation?

remember that God is with you.

Psalm 46:1-11

1  God is our refuge and strength,
        an ever-present help in trouble.

2  Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
        and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

3  Though its waters roar and foam
        and the mountains quake with their surging.

4  There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
        the holy place where the Most High dwells.

5  God is within her, she will not fall;
        God will help her at break of day.

6  Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
        he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

7  The LORD Almighty is with us;
        the God of Jacob is our fortress.

8  Come and see the works of the LORD,
        the desolations he has brought on the earth.

9  He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth;
        he breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
        he burns the shields with fire.

10  “Be still, and know that I am God;
        I will be exalted among the nations,
        I will be exalted in the earth.”

11  The LORD Almighty is with us;
        the God of Jacob is our fortress.

my weekend thru food

whew! whatta weekend.

i spent one night/2 days in Columbus with my mom & sister for a “girls’ weekend”.

by evening, i ended up with the stomach flu.  yikes.  stomach flu at a hotel?  not fun.

anyways.  lots of good food was eaten (& since i haven’t felt like uploading my camera pix, these phone pix will have to do for now….lol)

above was my choice of cheesecake when we ate at The Cheesecake Factory.

this was called chocolate tuxedo cream cheesecake.  it was good.  i wouldn’t call it fabulous.  there were so many choices to chose from…i just picked and hoped for the best.

also at The Cheesecake Factory, before i ate the cheesecake, i ate this salad.

it was calleda b.l.t. salad.  not the best.

after a night of the stomach flu, i enjoyed a few sips of mint tea from starbucks.  i’ve never ordered tea from starbucks.  i’m usually a coffee girl.  but feeling under the weather, this tea was quite good.
i’m a huge fan of soup.  later we went to Red Robin, (which i love), and i ordered this french onion soup with bread.

i love french onion soup, (so does my hubby), and this one was fantastic!  (even on a weak stomach)

so, for now, that’s all i have to sum up my weekend away.  lots of good food.  hope your weekend was a tasty treat too!!!

altered vera bradley catalog {part 1} sunday scrappin’

do you get these?

i’m not a vera bradley person, myself, but practically every female family member i have loves VB….so, i order off of their site…now my mailbox is full of their catalogs.

this one caught my eye!

it was larger than the usual catalog they send and (as usual), the paper they use is extremely heavy….soooo, i thought ALTER IT!

i tend to hoard my favorite papers, so needless to say, i didn’t use my favorites, but i do have quite a few of those “paper stacks” that you can buy with multiple coordinating sheets…..so, since i didn’t  (& still don’t) know exactly what i would use this for, i grabbed 2 of those stacks, my modge podge and went for it!

here are some tips if you are going to alter a catalog:

  • feel free to tear out a page here & there if it is extremely thick
  • have fun with it!  i even cut some of the pages in half or trimmed off an inch here & there to make it interesting
  • i used binder rings to help hold it together (although they aren’t really needed), this will also allow me to add extra sheets, envelopes or fun stuff
  • i modge-podged about half of the pages, skipping around, and then placed it under a flat, heavy item (such as a laptop) over-night so that the pages dry flat and not curved or crinkled (which tends to happen with modge podge on paper)
  • i tend to ‘over think’ my layouts and projects, but since i created this without a specific purpose in mind, i tried to just put it together without much planning….
so, i am anxious to see how it ends up!

i keep changing my mind what i actually want to use it for…..hopefully i can find a fun use soon!

haven’t posted a sunday scrappin’ in a while, so i thought i would today!

my ta-da’s:

  1. obviously this altered vb catalog

my to-do’s:

  1. find a use for my new altered book! lol
  2. thank you cards for my son to send from his bday
  3. maaany summer scrapbook pages

the challenge: i didn’t get a chance to do anything bday related…..hopefully this week.

thanks for stopping by!

grab some mail and alter it!!

my second 5k

walked in my second 5k today.  whatta great feeling of accomplishment!

shaved over 3 minutes off of my first one a month ago….not bad.

(above: on the way to the 5k…looking a bit tired…so early for a saturday)

(below: heading towards the finish line with my sis)

afterwards, my hubby took me to starbucks for my favorite drink!  ; )

{life is good}

spent yesterday at Lakeside on Lake Erie.  nick & i went with my parents & sister.

the weather was absolutely PERFECT!

i saw this adorable vintage blue bike sitting outside of the movie theater, so i just had to take a picture of it.  it was just too cute to pass up.

we did all sorts of fun things….shuffleboard, putt-putt golf, drove around in a golf-cart while snapping pictures of the lake & other fun things….sno-cones, popcorn, vanilla bean fraps, pizza, hot wings, shopping quaint little local shops…..lots & lots of fun!

the only thing that was missing from this day was my hubby, (who graciously stayed home to work & take care of chewy) and starbucks…can you believe, almost a 2 1/2 hour drive and NOT ONE single starbucks.  yikes!

tomorrow, i will be walking in my second 5k!  can’t wait!!!
