a good day…

when i awoke this morning and stumbled out into the cold to take the dog out, i was happily surprised to find a light dusting of snow.  there is nothing better than looking out the window and seeing a clean slate…white–crisp–clean…..SNOW!  i really do love it.  whatta good start to my day….

later this morning, i found our dog, chewy, enjoying his morning nap…those legs up in the air are just too cute.  from the looks of this, he must be having a good day too!

then, i was in the kitchen preparing to start dinner and my sweetheart of a hubby called and suggested that he pick-up Applebee’s on his way home from work.  no cooking supper!  this is a gooood day!!!

christmas card picture prep

 this is one of the first photos i took for our Christmas cards this year.  my son, (13), didn’t quite want to participate and pull himself away from playing videos games, but the dog was willing, (ok, so he didn’t have much choice, but we did manage to take a few pics before he pawed off his antlers.)  of course, the one we are going to use for the cards, they are both facing forward, but i thought this would work for the blog.

my favorite holiday appetizer–ham roll-ups

 ok.  those are ham roll-ups.  oh ya….they are sooo good.  we have always had them at Thanksgiving and Christmas, for as long as i can remember.  my dad used to make them, now my sister has taken his job.  they are fabulous no matter who makes them.  they are very simple. 

here’s the recipe–if you can call it that!

Holiday Ham Roll-ups

Ingredients: 

  • deli sliced ham, sliced as thick or thin as you like, you can purchase the prepackaged type as well.  pieces should be rectangles approx. 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches
  • 1 8oz. brick of cream cheese, softened
  • green onions, washed and ends trimmed off

Directions:

  1. Spread cream cheese very carefully on slice of ham…the ham may rip if the ham is sliced to thin or if the cream cheese isn’t soft enough.
  2. Take an onion and place along the edge, lengthwise.
  3. Carefully roll up ham slice, starting with the onion side.
  4. Proceed until all ingredients are used.
  5. Place on a plate and chill in refrigerator.
  6. Carefully slice into bite size pcs.
  7. YUM  Serve cold, store remainders in refrigerator, (but in our house, there are never any left.) (in fact, they quickly disappear before the meal even begins.)

death by chocolate

yesterday, (saturday), my sweet family took me to our favorite local coffee shop for lunch.  i tried a new warm drink, death by chocolate……ooooh yaaaaaa…….so good.  (i’ve included a picture, although i took it with my cell phone, so it’s not the best.)  i also bought a pound of my favorite holiday coffee beans, jack frost java.  (which i have to admit, i’ve already had a few cups today…..may need to buy more before the end of the holiday season.)

**death by chocolate:  a Ghiradelli dark chocolate mocha topped with whipped cream and shaved dark chocolate.

from my hubby

today i opened the mailbox and found a surprise!  my husband had told me that he had ordered  something for me, but wouldn’t say what.  quickly i opened it and found a green Women’s Devotional Bible.  did i say “GREEN”???   my new favorite color.  i can’t resist a shirt, a purse, a notebook or now, a BIBLE in GREEN!!!!  i had actually read about it on another blog, showed my hubby and low & behold, he snuck online and ordered one for me!!!!
