december daily {sunday scrappin’}

here’s my post for sunday scrappin’.

my ta-da’s: advent calendar and the december daily that i’m going to post today

my to-do’s: christmas cards, and some encouragement cards, and a few gifts

my challenge for the next person, (as suggested on sunday scrappin’): scrap a picture from a past Christmas

ok. so, i’m finally finished with my day long project.

i wanted to make a december daily, as suggested by ali on her blog.  basically, you create a page for the entire month of december.  then, each day of december, you take a photo(s), journal it and create a layout using the page you have already created.  it should help you save time during the hustle & bustle of the Christmas season.

i am only going to post 8 pictures today, showing how i altered a 3-ring binder to use for it:

  • for starters, i found this cardboard binder on the clearance shelf for only 40 cents!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • then, i cut Christmas-themed paper to fit the front and back.  i then adhered then onto the notebook.
  • after that, i did the same to the inside and the spine
  • then i cut 2 pieces of ribbon that would wrap around each side of the spine.  i ran them through my sticker maker, so that they would be good & sticky
  • the next picture is a chipboard word that i also ran through my sticker maker and adhered to the front of the album
  • finally, i proceeded to make a page for EACH day of december…..all 31 days!
  • the next 2 photos are just a glance at the edges.  there are so many pages that i think i will blog them each day in december and you can see them, then.  31 pages took most of my afternoon & evening!!!! but, it was a lot of fun and it will be fun to fill it up all month long!

taste of home

had some fun last night….went to the annual taste of home cooking school

each year, my mom, sister and i always go.  it’s fun.  it’s a girls’ night out.  we meet for dinner at a local coffee shop, downtown, near where the expo is, then head over to the expo & cooking school.

this pic is my lap.  you always receive a bag of goodies, including their magazine, which contains many recipes, including the ones that will be demo’d.  (the bag of goodies has changed drastically over the years.  it used to contain kitchen utensils, all sorts of freebies & coupons….now, it’s basically coupons)

lots of yummy recipes were taught with lots of give-a-ways.  LOTS of give-a-ways!  appliances.  groceries.  platters.  gift baskets.  TONS.  (might i mention, that over the years, the 3 of us have NEVER won anything?!  zippo.  zilch. nothing.)
the above picture is only part of the stage, (about a third of it–the far left stage).   it’s neat how they make it look like a home-kitchen-setting.  all appliances, decor, dining room tables etc.  this was taken with my cell-phone, so the pix isn’t the best.
the above picture was directly center stage, but we were in the 2nd row, so the view is kind of looking up…..this is where she stood and cooked, with a camera’s eye view from the top.

i love the holidays and everything about them.  the cooking show has been a part of the holidays for quite a few years.  we always have a good time.  last night, there was a BAT that decided to fly around and swoop over our heads.  it added quite alot of excitement to the show for a few minutes.  imagine an auditorium full of 95% women, with a BAT swooping over our heads.  YIKES!!!  (have to admit that the cookind instructor handled it like a pro.  didn’t rattle her, cheryl,  at all!)

here is the list of yummy recipes that she showed us:

well, that was my night last night.

hope you are doing something fun & holiday’ish!

rolls of ribbon

is your stash of ribbon out of control?

mine was.

even though i had it separated into cute jars, it just seemed to always end up in a mess.  a huge mess.  some on the roll.  some off of the roll.

a while back i had seen where nichole heady had used old-fashion clothespins to wrap hers.  you can see her jars here. and here.

whatta great idea!

i found a huge (and i do mean huge) jar at my good friend lisa’s garage sale.  her mom (thanks, Pat) sold it to me for only 50cents!  it works perfectly!

it holds over 80 pins full of ribbon!!!

nichole suggests using a stick pin to adhere the ribbon to itself.  i chose to wrap the ribbon, then using a piece of double-sided tape, i simply stuck the end of the ribbon to itself.  on some rolls, you can see a piece of masking tape….that is how they were attached to the rolls i bought them on, so as i pulled it off of that, i left the tape on it and used it on the clothespin.  (does that make sense?)

i also had a much smaller jar, so i decided to keep ribbon that i will be using soon, like Christmas ribbon, in it for quick access.

i found my clothespins at our local Dollar Tree store.  packages of 20 for $1.  so far, i have used at least 100 of them.  it looks so much prettier and it saves on space!

if your ribbon has you wrapped up, give it a try!

it’s here!

good monday!

coffee, lunch, and shopping with lisa…

coming home to find packages on my front porch!!!

needless to say, i ripped them open, knowing what i would find inside!!!

yippee!!!  my order from papertreyink and from ohmycrafts!

check out these new stamp sets:

i can’t wait to get started on my Christmas cards!!

these stamps will come in so handy!

i am planning on making my own gift tags also.

hoping to make some additions to my etsy store using some of these new products also!

i’ve been reorganizing my craft room (shhh.  don’t tell my hubby that’s what i called it….it’s really our “spare bedroom”….just happens to be filled with 85% scrapbooking stuff…..oh, and our treadmill and HIS weight-lifting bench)…..(WE “SHARE” the room……ha)  anyways, i’ve been totally reorganizing it, cleaning, dusting, the works.  hopefully, after a nice dinner out tonight, i will be able to come home and finish the room.  maybe i will post some pix later this week.

oh.  have you started your Christmas shopping yet?  i bought an ornament today….a gift for my son….shhh don’t tell him….i am hoping to keep it a secret until we put our tree up next month….it’s really cool and retro….will post pix of it eventually!

funny face

i’ve recently come to realize, that i love movies from the 50’s and 60’s.

right now, i am watching “funny face” for the first time.  cute.  simple.  (although, i prefer a little less singing.)

i prefer movies in color, but if it’s a really good movie, lack of color doesn’t lessen the enjoyment.

i guess i appreciate movies that have less offensive stuff….less language, less nudity…

call me old fashion.

a tisket a tasket

a tisket a tasket.

here’s my huge basket!

i have been looking for something to keep my ever-growing marvy punch stash in.

found this one today!

50% off!

love it!

(except for the fact that i have already ordered a few more punches and my basket is over-flowing already!)

if you haven’t tried these punches yet, you should!  they are easy to use and the different sizes are perfect for any project!  you can purchase them many different places, of course, i would suggest my favorite online store, papertreyink!!!!
