hello snow

the snow and ice came yesterday and last night.  not enough to worry about.

just enough for a school delay.

that’s ok.  i love it!

not much to say.

still working on Christmas shopping, decorating, baking, planning, wrapping, card-making…

and 2 days behind on my december daily.  need to do that tonight.

only 8 days left!

that’s right.

i’m behind this year.

yes, i can admit it.

other projects and things have piled up and i still haven’t made my Christmas cards yet.  the snow has started….guess we are in for a winter storm, (i’ll believe it when i see it)…but, if we have a ‘snow day’ tomorrow, maybe THEN i will start my cards.

sounds good.

a little card that i made this morning…  (nope, not a Christmas card…still haven’t started…)

anyways, i guess our rain is expected to turn to ice, sleet & snow later this afternoon.

hope your monday is warm & cozy!

my dd {sunday scrappin’}

well, here i am.  i am soooo enjoying the december daily project.  i have mentioned it in a few other posts.  if you want to see all my month so far, check out my flickr

this layout for yesterday, the 13th, is titled “early bird”.  it describes the fact that i am NOT an early bird.  yesterday, however, i was up / out of the house / starbucks in hand and at the church by 10am to set up for a coffee fellowship time the next day.  so, for a saturday, i was QUITE the “early bird”.

i LOOOVE the owl and using the thicker stickers!!!

ok.  so, for my sunday scrappin’:

  • my ta-da’s: are obviously, my december daily.  so much fun!
  • my to-do’s: are STILLLLLLL to make my Christmas cards!!!!!  YIKES!!!!  i haven’t started the cards YET!
for the 14th, my layout describes that within a 7 day period, we have FIVE different Christmas programs to go to!  busy busy!  but that’s ok…. ’tis the season!

again, i used the thicker stickers and for the journalling, i actually used my typewriter…. quite a vintage find!  i got it at a local flea market for only $5, case and everything!

well, that is all!

hope you are enjoying what is left of your weekend!

…..in the meadow we can build a snowman…….walkin’ in a winter wonderland…..(looove Christmas music!)…..

the birth of the King

Luke 2:1-21

“And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.  And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)  To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.  And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.   And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.  And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.   And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.”

home for the holidays

over at the Internet Cafe Devotions, they are hosting a holiday expo.  this week, the feature is a “tour of homes”.

so, i’m playing along, by posting a glimpse of our holiday decorations.

above pic pretty much sums it up for me.   i looooove Christmas.

the wreath on our front door is live.  each Christmas, my husband’s employer sends them as gifts.  they are quite beautiful and smell lovely.  the wreath somewhat hides my doorplate, (which i love).  it was a gift from my grandmother when we built the house.

next, is just a few of my village pieces.  i have too many to get out at the same time, so i have begun rotating them.  i have them in a few different locations, this just being one.
next is a glimpse of our tree.  i like to use red, green and gold, but i also now include many ornaments from years past or new ones from this year.

i like the word “believe”.   i think it may be my favorite holiday word.

i look at it in 2 different ways.

  1. whether you call it “Santa” or the spirit of Christmas, i love the excitement and anticipation of gift-giving and everything about Christmas.  i don’t think i will ever out-grow loving this holiday season and “believing”.
  2. most importantly, i believe that Jesus is my savior.  He died on the cross and rose again, for me–a sinner.  the most important part of Christmas being that God sent His Son to earth, through the birth of Jesus, at Christmastime.
of course, it wouldn’t be MY tree, if there wasn’t an ornament or two, reflecting my love of coffee.

this particular ornament (pictured above) even SMELLS like coffee!  yum!!

and obviously i love my starbucks!!!
the pac-man ornament actually lights up and plays the original pac-man theme.  each year, my son asks for an arcade-size pac-man machine.  (which we don’t have the room or the money for.)  when i saw this ornament, i knew it would be perfect for him!!!
lastly, a little jar of candy canes that i made and an advent calendar that i made also.

that’s just a small look at our decorations…wouldn’t want to continue to bore you with more & more pictures……

happy holidays!

small town girl

just a little play on words with the title….

could describe my small Christmas village….

could describe me…

hope you’re having a day full of joy and peace, that only our Savior can give!

  • “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  Romans 15:13

daily fun {sunday scrappin’}

ok.  so, i’ve been working on my december daily as mentioned here and here.

this picture is from my december daily yesterday.  if you would like to see more, they can be found on flickr

my sunday scrappin’ :

  • ta-da’s: would definitely be my december daily.  it’s fantastic.  it’s easy.  it’s quick. and i know i will enjoy looking back at the entire month-long journal of memories.
  • my to-do’s: really fit in with the challenge for this week….to use snow in the theme or project.  well, i have about 60 Christmas cards to make and snowflakes are the major embellishment for each.  i am hoping to have them totally done by thursday morning….cross your fingers!

well, that’s all for today.  i am loven the snow outside.  it’s less than an inch, but it’s pretty…and i love it!

enjoy your sunday!
