For this layout, I challenged myself to simply grab random supplies and use it.  The brown strips I bought a  few years ago and it has sat in my stash forever. 

Below it I used a polka-dot tape, from the $1.99 bin at Archivers.  The “details”, I had cut out using my Cricut. 

So, that’s all.  Feels good to have scrapped some layouts, using supplies on hand. 

Today’s the last day of summer break.  Where did Summer go? 

some strange things occurred.  Amongst my supplies, 

some stuffed toys soon appeared.  Things were licked,  and were sniffed,  and were jostled about.  Tossed this way & that way,  and then soon abandoned…. 

…all while I was scrapping…  

• First, I painted a small amount of green paint around the edges of each side, in case any of it showed, I didn’t want the original colors to ruin the color of the project. 
• Then, I simply cut paper to the size of each side. Using my large sticker maker, I adhered the paper to the box.  This Xyron is perfect for these types of projects…I always use it! 

• Collect embellishments such as ribbon, flowers etc…anything you want!  My BFF Lisa had just given me a bag of vintage ribbon and rick rack–in the original packaging!!!!!!  This rick rack matched perfectly!!!  And when I opened it, I realized that the packaging was the perfect size for the front of my box…so, of course I had to use it! 
• Before adding the embellishments, I used sandpaper around the edges to rough them up a little and make them look old.  Then, I dabbed the edges with a white ink-pad.  Followed by some squirts of my favorite Marshmallow Mist to add a little glitter to the paper.

• I used various sizes of my scalloped oval Marvy Punches, some bling, and a Sassafras button flower.  I used some blue embossing powder on one of the ovals, (first time I’ve used embossing powder…not sure why I haven’t tried it before). 
• I also ran the 2 colors of rick rack through my sticker maker…great way to add adhesive to ribbon.
• After all embellishments were added, I sprayed a layer of Matte finishing over the entire thing. 

I love how rough and “vintagey” it looks.  Can’t wait to use it!! 

Make a fun mini album! 

I started a part-time job a few months ago and am having a hard time finding time for the things I love…like scrapbooking, blogging, exercising, shopping….all of those things that I once took for granted that I would have time for…those things that I never understood when someone would say “I don’t have time for that.” 

Now I understand.  Eeks.

(My son turned 16 this week.  Where has time gone?) 

Incase you didn’t know, it was this past Saturday, lol. 

I am typically, not a ‘cat person’, but my sister had to put her 20 year old cat, “Mini”, to sleep at the end of last week.  She, of course, is going through a sad time right now. 

So, I did the only thing I know how. 

I scrapped. 

My mom gave me some pictures of the cat, from over the last 20 years, and I made a “mini album about Mini”.  Some of the supplies used were from:  Dear Lizzy, Studio Calico, Maya Road, PapertreyInk, Cricut & more!

Things are changing around here lately.  Each day’s hours are spent before I find time for you.  I am trying to organize my days better….trying to adjust….trying to find time for myself, my crafting, ….my blog.  Don’t give up on me.  I’ll be back.  I’ll figure it out.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted.  Sorry about that. 

Anyways, with Easter on the way, I wanted to post a quick tutorial! 

Altered Egg Box

• You will need one of these totally adorable boxes, available from papertreyink.com  They are very durable and have crisp & clean corners.  Very easy to alter….and very inexpensive! 
• Next pick out your color/paper theme.  I have been LOOOOOOVING the “Lush” line.  I chose the brown and vintage turquoise. 
• Gather your supplies:  Your choice of adhesives,  (my most favorite adhesive for these types of projects are by Xyron 510….and a little bit of double-sided tape, if need be), paper cutter, punches or knife (for cutting egg-holes), ribbon, embellishments, stamps.  You will also need some plastic eggs and your choice of filling.   

• I chose to fill my eggs with yummy Easter chocolates, although you could use anything you like.  (I would love to find WHITE plastic eggs, but have yet to find them anywhere).

• Once the eggs are finished, the fun embellishing can begin! 
• I love to use wire ribbon…it’s so easy to make pretty bows and twirl the ends!!

• Papertreyink also makes coordinating stamps, Just Hatched,  to go with the Egg Boxes.  I used my Marvy Punches, (scalloped oval for the tag), a vintage-looking pin and added a little bling.

That’s it!!  Such a quick, easy project, that looks fantastic!!!

So, for my mom’s birthday, I altered the envelope and made a card to go inside. I made the card below using the new Lush line from My Mind’s Eye…..I love the vintage feel of the paper and embellishments!  The turquoise (blue) and the browns are my favorite!!! 

The beautiful brown flower was handmade by my MIL!!
