the bloggy beginning 2007

just a little about myself….I am a 37 yr. old (eeks!), Christian, stay-at-home mom, (mom to 1 son)(1 dog & 1 hamster).  God has blessed me immensly with my incredible husband, kevin.  I have had a passion for paper for as long as I can remember…creating with paper–cards, scrapbooking–i love it all!!  Just as I create with the scraps of paper and supplies, Jesus uses the scraps of my life, fitting them together, to create me in His image & for His glory.  I’m unsure what I hope to accomplish with this blog.  I often have big dreams, high expectations and not enough self-confidence to pursue it.  Here’s to new beginnings……………..

wow.  well, i’ve been blogging now for about 8 months….hugely addicted to it.  i just turned 38.  in fact, this picture was taken of me on my birthday, in the car with my hubby, drinking my non-fat caramel macchiato {current favorite}. I’ve decided to set some goals for this year, (we’ll see what happens):

  1. Thoroughly clean the house, down-sizing the amount of “stuff” that I hold on to.  { still need to work on this}
  2. Find a lot to build a new house on, or find a new house that meets our needs, (with God as our guide).  { haven’t found one and still unsure if now is the time}
  3. Continue to follow this new low-calorie, 6 day a week work-out routine, hoping to lose another 6 lbs., totally 15.  { totally sticking to this!  have now lost around 25 lbs., still counting calories, exercising daily, and now have even started taking a beginner’s spinning class at the Y–a huge step for me–exercising in public!!!}
  4. Find a daily devotion routine that works for me, that I can stick to.  { have started a new prayer journal, which i love…still looking for a good devotional…attending weekly Bible Study at church…am concentrating on “refocus & renew” for 2009.
  5. Clean my house more often. ugh.  { will never be my strong point, but am trying!}
  6. Blog daily.  { i try }
  7. Find ways to be an encouragement to others, more often. { i am aware of people that God seems to place on my heart, just need to make sure to follow through with encouraging them & praying for them.}
  8. Scrap, at least, once a week. { continues to be my goal.  am working on a big new step for SiB}
  9. Continually work to keep my etsy store filled, hoping to find something that sells well. { * see #8 }
  10. Spend more time one-on-one with my hubby, work at being a better wife. { i try!!}
  11. Work at being a better friend, mother, daughter, sister, wife, woman of God. { my main goal…always needs working on}
  12. Be better at spur-of-the-moment hospitality. { i am aware of this and occasionally am better, but always struggle….guess if my house was clean all of the time, that would help…lol}
  13. Save money, less impulse buying. { tiny bit improved }
  14. Allow God to work through me, helping to make my son & husband, all that God intends them to be. { realizing that we are crossing into phase 2 of parenting.  high school decisions that affect the life ahead of Nick, new struggles, teenage issues, driving ahead.  no more are the days of fun & games of elementary.  }
  15. Less napping. {yawn}  { i love morning naps.  i am not a morning person, nor will i ever be.  i am trying! }
