made french toast, scrambled eggs and bacon for supper last night, (yes, occasionally, we eat breakfast food as supper). part way through preparing dinner, i realized that we were out of syrup.  yikes!!!  how can we eat french toast without syrup?!?!  so, i hopped on the internet and found a recipe for homemade syrup.  it was fantastic!  it was cinnamon syrup, so the french toast almost tasted like a cinnamon roll….yummmm!   

the recipe was extremely quick and easy!

Cinnamon Pancake Syrup


  • 1 cup sugar (i used white sugar)
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 3 tbsp. butter, (i used real butter)


  1. Combine all ingredients, except butter.
  2. Bring to boil.
  3. Boil 3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and add butter.
  5. Serve on warm pancakes, waffles, or french toast!
