Scraps In Bloom – Page 37 – {just a girl with a blog}

good monday

whew.  whatta good day.  no rain.  favorite lunch.    went out of town shopping with nick.

favorite drink…starbucks…$4

favorite out-of-town dinner…chili’s…$25…

favorite scrapbook store….archiver’s…$37…

favorite store…target…$150…

spending time with my teenage son…priceless…

good day.   how was yours?

new flocking technique {good scrappiness}

ok.  so, i had bought the cute little bottles of ‘flocking’ a week or two ago and had yet to try them.  was at the scrapbook store, and found these new double-sided adhesive stickers to use with the flocking or glitter.
i was a bit nervous, but soon was thrilled with how easy it was!

  • simply adhere the stickers, (i chose letters), to your paper
  • pour on some of the flocking, (i poured on a lot)
  • using your finger, rub in a circular motion, over the stickers
  • shake off excessive flocking material, (you can shake it onto another piece of paper, that way it is easy to dump back into the bottle)
  • and there you go!
the pictures don’t do it justice.   it’s amazing how easy it was and whatta great fuzzy, 3-D effect!!!   give it a try! enjoy your weekend!

apple green {i want that one!}

whew.  whatta week!  so happy it’s friday.our coffee maker is breaking…i love green…maybe i’ll get this one.

have been working non-stop on a scrapbook gift.  only 2 more layouts to go.  maybe i will post some of it this weekend.

chewy is much better.  conjunctivitis in both eyes.  got some eye medication for him…he’s looking better already….he was looking quite pitiful….

hubby has a softball tournament all day tomorrow.  hopefully the rain will hold off.  sun is currently shining.  maybe we’ll even make it into the sun today!

can’t believe it’s almost july.  this summer has flown (or floated) by.  feeling very blessed that i can be a stay-at-home mom and enjoy the summer days with nick.

what about you?  what blessing has God made you aware of recently?

lights out!

goofy things to do when the power is out for 5 hours:

  • toss football with dad, dashing through ankle-deep puddles
  • wash cars
  • eat yummy snacks–calories consumed in the dark don’t count, right?
  • listen to music on your laptop and make up new dance moves
  • attempt to read a good book as light creeps through the windows
  • resort to hand-held electronics for games (pathetic, huh?  how did laura ingalls fill her time?)

well, as you can tell, our power went out shortly after supper and didn’t return until after midnight.

poor chewy has some kind of odd eye infection…keeps squinting at us and woke up this morning with eye goop (sorry for the vision that creates).  vet apt later today.

well, the sun is shining, lots to do today!  have a great thursday!

by Shel Silverstein

I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.

I step very softly,
I walk very slow,
I can’t do a handstand–
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said–
I’m just not the same since there’s rain in my head.

finally, it’s not raining today.  seems like this summer has been full of rain…(did i mention i am NOT a fan of rain?  it depresses me.  makes me want to sit on the couch, wrapped in a blanket and veg out….) yuck.  anyways, came across this short, funny poem about rain.  thought i would post it.  maybe you’ve heard it before.

hope you have a happy & rain-free day!

summertime top 10

here’s my summertime top 10:

  1. sleeping in, sleeping in, sleeping in….mornings/afternoons in pajamas
  2. no schedule, more time in the evening to do what we want without worrying about bedtimes
  3. floating in our own pool, whenever convenient
  4. tanning in the sun, less make-up to wear—time to read, (while floating or sunning)
  5. grilling supper instead of the usual menu
  6. sitting on the swing after supper, enjoying the cool breeze and setting sun
  7. walks outside instead of on the treadmill
  8. having son home all day instead of at school
  9. no snow matted on doggie paws after potty trips outside
  10. cheering for hubby (he plays for the church’s mens’ softball team)

cedar point trip: part 3: saving the best for last

(ok. still dealing with uploading photo problems….)  part 3 of CP pix.  last post about CP.  won’t bore you much longer.

it made my day.  lousy, expensive, amusement park food, but ahhh there was starbucks.

totally surprised!  not even listed on their website or there map…..(?@?!?@ why do they not list it!?!?  are they crazy?)

a caramel macchiato in the morning and another one in the evening!  yum!  (in fact it was the main source of my nutrition for the day.) ha

ONLY bad part, they didn’t have frappuccinos, (sorry hubby), and the employees WERE MEAN!  not just rude.  not just a bad moment.  MEAN.  continually.  to everyone, including each other.

hope your weekend went well.

rained most of the afternoon/evening during our pool party, but it was still a good time visiting with family….splurging on yummy food, watching adults play Wii, and little ones try to race on Burnout Paradise.  some managed to swim before the rain set in…..and hubby grilled delicious chicken before the storms.

good weekend?  leave a comment!

cedar point trip: part 2

ok.  here are just 2 more of the CP pix. this is the Raptor!  eeks.this was nick’s first ever roller coaster ride.

as a mom standing below, (he rode with an older cousin & friends), it was very hard to watch.

i’m not sure who was more nervous & nauseous, him?  or me?

this is a pic of nick & i on the ride……  my hubby actually snapped a picture as we rode by.

well, that’s it for today.  busy preparing for a pool party that we are having at our house tomorrow.

maybe i will post more of the CP pix tomorrow.

enjoy your weekend!!!

oh yaaaa–that’s my favorite!

just a quick note.  (can’t post my other pix of CPoint yet, camera still isn’t uploading…maybe tomorrow)….  these are delicious! i LOOOOOVE peanut butter and chocolate.

unfortunately, my son has a severe peanut allergy….so, rarely do i eat PB…….he can’t touch it or eat it, so we usually don’t keep anything with peanuts in the house.

i don’t mind giving up my PB for him.  it’s a way of life for us.  has been, since we found out, when he was around 12 months old.

we have discovered this yummy alternative.   I.M.Healthy Soy Nut Butter. even comes in chunky!

if i’m at home, i eat it everyday for lunch.  my family knows it as “my favorite bagel meal”.  which consists of a bagel with SNButter and locally made blueberry jam….and a cup of coffee….438 calories….for the whole meal…..  ooohh yyaaaa.  it’s fantastic!

go ahead. admit it.  what is your favorite thing to eat for lunch when you’re enjoying the comforts of home??
