cedar point trip: part 1

spent all day yesterday chaperoning our church’s middle school youth group, as they spent the day at Cedar Point.Cedar Point is an amusement park a few hours from where we live.  as a teen, i used to go there each summer with my youth group…riding all of the rides, not thinking twice.

as a 38 yr. old, my stomach doesn’t quite feel the same as it once did.

i was able to ride one of the rides….this one is called the mine ride. it’s a lot of fun.  i rode once with my hubby and once with my son.  this is a picture of him….waiting…..the second time i went to ride with him, it started to rain, so they closed the ride for a few minutes.  we were almost next, so we waited out the storm.  within 10 minutes we were off & rolling!

that’s it for today.  having trouble uploading the photos.  hopefully tomorrow i can post the rest from our day at Cedar Point.

enjoy amusement parks?  leave a comment about your favorite!

joy of the lord

How joyful are those who fear the LORD—
    all who follow his ways!
You will enjoy the fruit of your labor.
How joyful and prosperous you will be!
Your wife will be like a fruitful grapevine,
    flourishing within your home.
Your children will be like vigorous young olive trees
as they sit around your table.
That is the LORD’s blessing
    for those who fear him.

Psalm 128:1–4

whew!

great weekend.     did some things that hubby wanted to do, since it was “father’s day weekend”….like eating at Outback Steakhouse…  surprised myself and got on the scales sunday morning, (after eating a big dinner on saturday AND ice cream when i got home), and i had actually lost almost 2 more pounds!!!!!!!!  whew!!!!  yahooo!!!!!!  still counting calories, (trying to stay around 1300 a day), and trying to exercise daily (walk between 30-50 minutes on the treadmill, while lifting weights)…that makes just over 20 lbs. lost!!!

OH and bought some scrap supplies from my favorite online store, papertrey ink.  a new stamp set, another punch and another stamp set. this company is absolutely awesome!  i have never been disappointed with them.  i can’t wait for it to get here!

enjoyed watching the father’s day marathon of ‘little people’ and ‘jon & kate plus 8’….2 of my favorite shows….

the guys are continuing to work on building a deck at my inlaws’ house, (which gives me time at home, alone, to get things accomplished!)

busy week ahead of me.  prepare for the family pool party next weekend at our house, going to Cedar Point with our youth group, a scrapbook gift to work on…and normal day-to-day activities….

looking forward to getting some sun this week–hopefully the rain will go away for a while, but at least we aren’t flooding.

hope your weekend was super and that you are looking forward to a great week.  something exciting going on?  leave a comment!

rainy days & scrappin

yucky rainy day today, so we stayed home and i found time to scrap a little.  i had bought this paper group and some of the embellishments a few weeks ago.  as soon as i saw it, it reminded me of my grandmother.  i’ve been wanting to scrap a page about her, so i thought i would start with this.  i also had bought this clear acrylic sleeve that you can place a 12 x 12 page in, and add ribbon or whatever to hang it.

the color theme matches my scrap room, so i hung it there.

the picture is of my great-grandmother, my mom, and my grandmother….the year was probably 1951…  my grandmother was a very creative lady.  (i think that we were a lot alike…i’m guessing my creativity came from her).
one thing that she did was decorate blown-out eggshells.  she always had many tiny embellishments to use.  she passed on many years ago, but i used some of her items for this page.

the bow, the doily flower, and the pearl flowers were all from her stash.

i thought that the page needed balance, so i added some buttons.  my great-grandmother always had a huge drawer full of buttons in her sewing machine table….so the buttons make me think of her.  this is a great 3-generation picture and i’m quite happy with how the layout turned out.

guess the rainy day wasn’t so bad after all!

homemade iced skinny mochas

absolutely LOVE iced skinny mochas from starbucks…..so when i saw these 2 items at starbucks, i couldn’t resist.  iced skinny mochas at home!!!!  (for a fraction of the price–even better!!)  yippee! the mocha powder has the recipe/instructions listed on it, for making mochas.

decided to try it out!  yum!!!!  really good!

hope you are enjoying your summer break so far.  nick & i spent the afternoon, (wednesday), in our pool and cleaning out the pool toy storage containers.  the weather was in the 80’s.  perfect.

good day.  hoping today will be the same.

whisper a prayer

Dear Lord,

I am Your creation, and You created me for a reason.  Give me the wisdom to follow Your direction for my life’s journey.  Let me do Your work here on earth by seeking Your will and living it, knowing that when I trust in You, Father, I am eternally blessed.

Amen

Romans 12:2

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

1Peter 5:6

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.”
