MY ripple effect

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,”

whenever i need a little boost in my devotional time, i pull out my favorite devotional book:  “Women of the Bible”

today i studied Priscilla.  as in Priscilla & her husband Aquila.  (you can check out more by reading Acts 18-19, Romans 16:3-4, 1 Corinthians 16:19, 2 Timothy 4:19)

Priscilla was one of the first missionaries and a leader of the early church.  she was a woman whose spiritual maturity and understanding of the faith helped build up the early church.

some key points that God taught me today, during my devotion time:

  • “All work is valuable and worthwhile in God’s sight, and all work is worth doing ‘with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men….It is the Lord Christ you are serving’ ”  Colossians 3:23-24
  • “Whatever my role as a woman in my church, whether in the background or in a leadership position, i can be sure that what i am doing matters.  Each task–no matter how small or large–is important to the spread of the gospel.  I am an integral part of my church community, and God promises to use me.”
  • “The truth is, most of us have affected others in far more positive ways than we might guess, especially if we belong to Christ.”

“as believers, we should picture our lives as stones thrown into a pond.  our lives are meant to have a RIPPLING EFFECT so others can feel the influence of our gifts and faith.

picture yourself as a stone in God’s hand.

He throws you into the water.

What kind of ripples do you see?  Are they large or small?

Thank God for all the ripples your life has already created, even if the circle of your influence still seems rather small.  Unlike the ripples created by an ordinary stone, the ripple effect of faith need never stop as long as we live.  Pray that God will make waves with your faith, even rocking a few boats along the way.”

homemade syrup

made french toast, scrambled eggs and bacon for supper last night, (yes, occasionally, we eat breakfast food as supper). part way through preparing dinner, i realized that we were out of syrup.  yikes!!!  how can we eat french toast without syrup?!?!  so, i hopped on the internet and found a recipe for homemade syrup.  it was fantastic!  it was cinnamon syrup, so the french toast almost tasted like a cinnamon roll….yummmm!

the recipe was extremely quick and easy!

Cinnamon Pancake Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar (i used white sugar)
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 3 tbsp. butter, (i used real butter)

  1. Combine all ingredients, except butter.
  2. Bring to boil.
  3. Boil 3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and add butter.
  5. Serve on warm pancakes, waffles, or french toast!

monkey munch mayhem

ohhh yaaaa.  i had forgotten how good this little snack it monkey munch, (like on Jon & Kate plus 8), muddy buddies, puppy chow, whatever you want to call it, it is fabulous.  so good, that i couldn’t stop nibbling on it while i cooked supper.  then, i even found myself having a glass of milk too.  needless to say, there went my appetite.  (as jerry seinfeld would say, summarized, “i’ve waited my whole life to ruin my appetite. if i want a cookie for supper, (or monkey munch), i’ll have a cookie.  or two or three cookies.  because i know there’s another appetite coming up.”)

so, that’s what i had.  monkey munch.  (although i ate 3 bites of grilled chicken, as if that would cancel out some of the bad calories. ha)

anyways.  i will include the recipe.  it’s easy. it’s quick. it’s a crowd-pleaser.  and this version, is also peanut-free.

 Muddy Buddies

  • 9 cups of Chex cereal (basically, an entire box)
  • 1/2 cup of I.M.Healthy Soynut Butter (or peanut butter, if you’re not allergic)(or another cup of choc. chips)
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

  1. Pour cereal into a large bowl and set aside.
  2. Combine chocolate chips, soynut butter, and margarine in a microwave-safe bowl.  Microwave on HIGH 1 – 1 1/2 minutes or until smooth, stirring after 1 minute.
  3. Stir in vanilla.
  4. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal, stirring until all pieces are evenly coated.
  5. Then pour cereal mixture into a large resealable plastic bag, (2 gallon bag), with powdered sugar.
  6. Seal securely.
  7. Shake until all pieces are well coated.
  8. Spread on waxed paper to cool.
  9. Store in a resealable plastic bag or airtight container.

there you go.  you probably have some version of this recipe already….but if not, give it a try….but be prepared to ruin your appetite….or spoil your supper….. but you’re an adult.  you’re allowed!

and it’s worth it!!!!

green goodness {sunday scrappin}

made a trip to our new starbucks today.  not the first time i’ve been there, but the first time on a sunday….happened to be wearing a new green sweater that inspired me to make this layout!

used my huge starbucks sticker, coffee tag stickers, starbucks cup cardboard cozy, starbucks bag, starbucks bookmark, favorite green ribbons, favorite coffee themed paper and new green vinyl thicker stickers!!!  green goodness!!!!

just love how the green matches the sweater!
love those new green vinyl thicker stickers.  even included a starbucks receipt tucked into the top.
so, that’s my ta-da so far for Sunday Scrappin…not sure if the ‘folding’ that i did of the gift bag, will count for my S.S. challenge.

my to-do’s: many many cards to catch up on…hopefully later tonight, while the hubby & i watch a movie together.

hope you are enjoying your sunday!

for sale

aren’t they cute?  i built it while sorting through thousands, (literally), thousands of legos for the garage sale.

well, tomorrow’s the day!  rise & shine! bright & early!  full day of garage sale at the church.  praying that we make a nice chunk of change for missions.  my goal is to make more than last year….  so far, this year’s sale has gone surprisingly well!  no injuries, (last year nick had his finger crushed between tables and required stitches), last year, on the night before the sale, we were there quite late finishing up, but today we were out of there and eating dinner by 6:00!!!  whatta blessing!  people said that i was crazy for doing ‘another garage sale so soon’.  they didn’t think that we could fill an entire gym again with enough items—-they were wrong!!!!  God allowed things to go smoothly & blessed us with enough items to fill the gym!  i can’t wait to see what amazing things God will do tomorrow!

need some scrappy inspiration?  i have been looooving this website!  sooo many talented girls! check them out!!

picture-free wednesday.ha

ok. so normally, it’s ‘wordless wednesday’….but because i can’t find an image to use, only a link, i called it picture-free wednesday.  anyways.

i want this one.  i saw it in starbucks yesterday, and am some day, going to get it…..(just what i need, another starbucks mug.)  but, i can’t resist.  i love the brown and blue together.
